The National Law University, established by National Law University Jodhpur, Act, 1999 (Act No. 22 of 1999), passed by the State of Rajasthan, is the first institution of its kind in the country where study of law is coupled with other disciplines such as Science, Management Science and Policy Sciences. A University in ideal conditions draws its human resources at the levels of both faculty and student community, from the entire world. National law universities, only answers intention to do the same from the entire country following the traditions of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in technology education, Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) in the management education and All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in medical education.

Rules of Admission for Undergraduate Programme/Postgraduate Programme:
Eligibility:
The qualification required for admission to any undergraduate course in 10+2 with 50% marks in aggregate. For postgraduate courses at least three years bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by UGC/the state/central government university with 55% marks in the aggregate.

Selection Procedure:
Selection of students for admission to all undergraduate integrated 5 year courses (B.A.,LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.), and B.Sc., LL.B. (Hons.) and post graduate courses will be on the basis of merit demonstrated in the result of National Entrance Test (NET).
UG entrance test paper shall comprise of (a) linguistic ability; (b) analytical skills; (c) level of quantam of information; (d) mathematical aptitude; (e) legal reasoning and (f) aptitude for learning law.
PG entrance test paper shall comprise of (a) linguistic ability; (b) analytical skills; (c) depth of knowledge in the subject.
