The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences was established under the WBNUJS Act, 1999 (West Bengal Act IX of 1999) adopted by the West Bengal Legislature in July, 1999.The University was notified under Clause (f) of Section 2 of the UGC Act, 1956 in August 2004 and has been granted permanent affiliation by the Bar Council of India in July 2005.

Admission Procedure
Admission to the B.A./B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. Programme is granted on the basis of National Admission Test.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The candidate must have qualified in the Higher Secondary Examination or an equivalent one (i.e.10+2)with not less than an aggregate of 50% marks in all the core subjects with English put together and he/she must also have secured a minimum of 35% marks ineach of the subjects. Candidates shall be permitted to take the National Admission Test in the same year in which they will be appearing for their (10+2) examination but they will be given provisional admission so long an undertaking is given that confirmation would follow only with the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria.
The age of the candidate can be maximum21years. The candidates of SC/ST categories will be given a relaxation of one year.
Candidates are expected to have a certain degree of proficiency in the English language and also in the practice of operating computers. Selected candidates, not trained in the use of computers, are advised to acquire the skill prior to their admission to the University.
