Dr.Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, U.P. was established by an Act of Govt.of Uttar Pradesh in 2005 U.P.Act No.28 of 2005 and came into being on 4th of January 2006. Originally incorporated as ‘Dr.Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute, Uttar Pradesh’ word ‘Institute’ was substituted by the ‘University’ later, vide an amendment in the Act in November’2006.This was done to give a comprehensive national character to the Institute on lines with the other premier National Law Institutions of the Country. 

Admission
Admission to the BA LLB (Hons.) course is based on an All India Entrance Test conducted each year.

Eligibility
The eligibility for the Entrance Examination is a 10+2 Higher Secondary School certificate with 50% marks(SC/ST 45%) from a recognsed board of education and is maximum 20 years of age(SC/ST 22years). The level of questioning of the admission test is 10+2. The test will consist of questions covering English, Analytical reasoning, Verbal reasoning, Legal reasoning, Legal aptitude and General knowledge.

The intake is of 240 students bifurcated upon the two courses offered, The reservation  shall be provided as per State Government rules. The OBC/ST/SC students of other states shall be treated as General candidates.
